How to clean your home effectively in the current climate
Here at Koh, our promise has always been to offer you a simple, effective cleaning system that’s safer for you, those you love, and the planet.
That promise is important now more than ever, so we wanted to share some information on how the Koh Cleaning System can help you in the current climate.
Koh is an effective, eco-friendly surface cleaner. It’s also been proven to kill common strains of bacteria such as campylobacter, salmonella and E. coli, but it’s not a disinfectant or sanitiser, and it’s not meant to be.
Its main purpose is to be tough on dirt and grime to give your surfaces a sparkling clean.
So how can it help reduce the transmission of bacteria and viruses?
To keep your home as safe and hygienic as possible, it’s being recommended you clean and disinfect. The following information will help you understand the difference between these two steps and how they work together.
Disinfectants should be used after cleaning to kill any remaining microbes on your surfaces.
What about sanitisers? While sanitising and disinfecting are relatively similar, there’s an important distinction. Sanitising helps reduce the number of microbes on a surface, however it won’t kill everything.
This means it isn’t guaranteed to kill viruses such as COVID-19. Disinfecting will kill all microbes it comes into contact with, including viruses.
For either to be effective you need to have a clean surface, free of dirt and grime.
This is for a couple of reasons. Firstly, your sanitiser or disinfectant won’t be able to reach and kill all microbes if they are hidden under surface dirt, and secondly, some disinfectants will become ineffective on contact with organic materials.
If you are using a sanitiser or disinfectant as defence against COVID-19, check the label carefully to ensure it is effective against both bacteria and viruses.
Stay safe when disinfecting
Disinfectants such as bleach (which is recommended to kill COVID-19) are made from harsh chemicals, which is why they are so effective at killing germs. Please ensure you’re always following safety guidelines to keep you and your family safe.
